Sidekick Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 6, 2026

Sidekick is a Chrome extension that provides an online watch-party experience for sports fans. It allows users to create or join rooms, communicate with other users, select teams, and use a lightweight overlay while watching sporting events.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Sidekick collects, how it is used, where it is stored, and when it may be shared with third-party services.

1. Information Sidekick Collects

Depending on the features you use, Sidekick may collect or process:

Sidekick does not intentionally collect passwords, payment card information, or the contents of unrelated private webpages.

2. How Sidekick Uses Information

Sidekick uses collected information to:

3. Chat Messages and User-Generated Content

Messages and reactions that you send in a Sidekick room are stored so that other participants can receive them and, where applicable, so that chat history can be loaded when the room is opened.

Messages are not sold to advertisers and are not used by Sidekick for advertising profiles.

Sidekick does not permit routine human access to users' private messages or other user data. Access by the developer or authorized personnel is limited to situations permitted under applicable privacy requirements, such as security investigations, preventing abuse, maintaining the service, or complying with legal obligations.

4. Third-Party Services

Sidekick uses third-party services to provide parts of its functionality. These services may receive or process information necessary for the feature they provide.

Supabase

Sidekick uses Supabase for authentication, database storage, and real-time communication. Supabase may process anonymous user identifiers, room information, usernames, team/avatar information, messages, reactions, synchronization information, and other data necessary for these features.

Supabase operates its own infrastructure and services under its own policies and terms.

Groq

When match detection is requested, Sidekick may send webpage information such as the hostname, URL, page title, headings, and page description to Groq for the purpose of identifying the sporting event being watched.

Sidekick does not intentionally send private chat messages to Groq for match detection.

TheSportsDB

Sidekick may send participating team or player names to TheSportsDB to retrieve publicly available sports information and team imagery such as badges or logos.

REST Countries

If a country name needs to be resolved to a country code, Sidekick may send the country name to REST Countries for that purpose.

FlagCDN

Sidekick may load publicly available country flag images from FlagCDN when displaying country information.

These third-party services may process information according to their own privacy policies and terms.

5. Information Shared With Other Users

Information that you voluntarily provide to a room, such as your username, selected team, avatar, messages, and reactions, may be visible to other participants in that room.

Room participants may therefore see information that you choose to display while using Sidekick.

6. Local Storage

Sidekick uses Chrome extension storage on your device to maintain necessary session and application state. This may include your username, room code, session identifier, detected match information, selected team, avatar information, and related application settings.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Sidekick retains information for as long as it is needed to provide the relevant functionality, maintain rooms and chat history, operate the service, or satisfy legitimate security and administrative requirements.

You can leave a room through the Sidekick interface. When you leave a room, Sidekick removes the corresponding online-user membership record associated with your session from the active room.

Information already stored in other database records, such as previously sent messages, may remain until it is deleted through the application's administrative processes or applicable retention procedures.

8. Security

Sidekick uses reasonable technical measures intended to protect information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no internet service or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

9. Children's Privacy
